Help with car valuation: Ford Focus 2.5 ST-3 18.5k miles '56

Featured Replies

Hi

I need help in valuing a Focus ST that I have recently inherited from my late father. Here are the key details:

  • Make and Model: Ford Focus 2.5 ST-3 3 door

  • Colour: Grey

  • Year: 2006

  • Mileage: 18,500 miles (1,238 in the last 9 years)

  • Ownership: One owner (my late father) - Transferred to me for sale (so technically 2)

  • Condition: Dry garaged since new; in fantastic condition with only minor blemishes

  • Modifications: None, as new

  • MOT history: No failures

  • Location: Cheshire

The car was purchased new from Archers of Ashby when my father was in his early 60s, so the car has had a very easy life and hardly used at all the last 10 years.

Due to its very low mileage and upkeep, I'm having difficulty assessing the value, so I would appreciate any guidance or expertise in determining its current market valuation.

Also, if anyone knows of any specialists that deal with this model/year, or indeed if anyone is interested themselves, please let me know.

The rest of the photos can be seen at: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/8m4xxjmd43ik5j2beuzxc/ALVBhoR5kjNVys3Wc7t_1A4?rlkey=553p81382qayfyvfdnxau3n6s&st=8orfan3i&dl=0

The car has not been detailed or cleaned, the photos are the honest "as found" condition straight out of the garage.

Hope you can help me, it'd be great for it go to an enthusiast who would cherish and maintain it for many more years to come.

Thanks

Cannot give you a guide price, bt don't forget there is a specific ST group :

Hi Dan,

Condolences on your loss.

That car looks great! Might be worth a word with https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/ of "Bangers and Cash" fame.

Agree with Roger on this. Mileage and condition make it very difficult to compare.

If you sell on an owners club then you are sure to get an enthusiastic buyer. But you could be missing out on potentially thousands by doing that rather than letting the market decide at an auction.

I wouldn't like to even estimate a value on this one myself.

Hi

Thanks for the help. I've registered on the ST site and have also sent the details on to Mathewsons to see what they say.

I also tried https://www.carandclassic.com that gives ballpark figures, excellent condition came out at £16,283, but consensus seems to be somewhere between £12-15k.

I was concerned about the auction route, however having a baseline would at least let me set a reserve at a reasonable value should I go that way.

I've also been given a local detailers contact info, so now the weather is improving, may well get the car nicely detailed ready for sale.

And sorry about your Dad😔
