Clutch issue Mk1 Focus

Featured Replies

Hi all! I've just picked up a 2005 mk1 Focus 1.6 petrol. When I bought it I was told the clutch was quite high, but for £100, I was happy to take it anyway. What I've noticed is that when I let off the clutch fully, it sounds and feels like it's still disengaging for a few seconds afterwards under acceleration. I'm getting no burning smell, so starting to wonder if the clutch itself might actually be ok, and there is another issue in the system somewhere? I am not a mechanic, but do like to work on cars, but I'm still learning and sometimes need a little help/pointed in the right direction. Any ideas as to what it could be would be really helpful, thank you.

Hello Calumsy95

Might be totally the wrong line of enquiry but I had a similar issue, 2004 1.6 Zetec, clutch was really high when I bought it for buttons but no slipping etc, as I only drove the car occasionally I decided to live with it UNTIL it went for MOT and it failed for having ZERO brake and clutch fluid in the reservoir. We replaced the fluid, bled the system and hey presto the pedal is now fine and months later the fluid level remains fine. Strange.

Might be worth checking the fluid level and the slave cylinder for any signs of leakage

I'm no mechanic either, just sharing my experience fella

Good luck sir...…
