Car 12V Battery replacement Issue

Featured Replies

I'm currently in the process of changing my 12 volt car battery, my car is a 2022 ford focus 1.5 ecoblue, and am unable to remove the clamp on the negative battery post. Has anyone else had this problem ?

The post is not corroded and the clamp is loose but the clamp will not pull off. It appears to be stuck /jammed. I could use a puller to try force it off but I'm concerned about breaking something i can't see.

let me see you wiggle it, just a little bit

I don't know the layout of the battery wiring on your model but if it's anything like our old Mk3 could you unplug the BMS sensor, detach the earth cable at the body end (suspension tower?) then remove the battery so you can see what you're dealing with?

I would give it a gentle sideways tap then lever it up.

They are often quite stubborn, give it some persuasion and it should free off. You could try spraying some sort of penetrating lubricant.. and wiggle it- as suggested
