Yep, now there is no fresh oil entering the loom the situation must be improving. Hopefully, this next clean up will fix things for good. Best of luck, Chris

thanks Chris. I got the turbo done on Friday. Normally when I go down the hill I travel on the light comes on but it didnt actually come on till almost home. So, it came on again but I'm thinking its not as often. Could be my imagination and maybe putting 2 and 2 together but will see how it goes. Good luck for you as well. I love my Focus, I was seriously thinking about an EV (the better half has an E V Porsche Taycan) but i don't do much driving now and I just love the handling of the car.

So a further update. I got a new turbo fitted as mentioned and that is performing absolutely fine. The 'engine service' light does keep coming on. Thankfully had my MOT this morning and it passed no problems. However...

A friend mentioned i should check the MOT status on the Gov.uk site which I did. When I entered my reg it said there were 2 recalls for my particular model. So, I called my nearest Ford dealership and they said one was to do with the DPF but only if the MOT reported a fail (it didn't in my case) but the other is a software update. They did say that the existing parameters could indeed be causing the issue (funnily enuogh another garage did tell me its more likely to be software than mechanical) . So, i've booked a software update next week (free of charge since its a recall) and will see what happens!

Will keep you posted and see if it makes a difference. In the meantime apart from that error coming up the car is running beautifully!
