Hi, Has anyone else experienced such a delay in getting a replacement part.

The back exhaust went at the end of January. I was surprised that quikfit local garages etc all agreed it would need a specific Ford parts replacement.

Initially I was told by the dealership I may have to wait 2 weeks or so for a replacement , after 2 weeks I was told maybe 1-2 months, after 6 weeks I was given a replacement date of 4 months after initally taking car in to the garage.

The local dealership and Ford Customer Care tell me it is on most urgent waiting list though they cant bring the date forward. I find it hard to believe that such an obvious replacement part is not available and that Ford don’t to seem to care that the car is virtually unusable .

Has anyone else had similar supply issues or any advice as to whom I can complain further

There are loads of options available for the rear box due to different engines and different bumpers and different bodystyles.

If Ford UK don't have your specific one in stock then they'll have to wait a delivery from abroad. I suspect they have bulk deliveries at certain intervals to save on shipping costs and border hassle. So if you need a Ford one then all you can really do is wait.

However, apart from the shape, there's nothing particularly smart about the backbox. I'm sure it could be repaired if you go to an exhaust specialist who can custom make the parts. Not just places like Kwikfit who are only fitters.
