PCP mileage explained

Featured Replies

Hi. Can anyone confirm if I am right in thinking that any potential excess mileage charge on a PCP agreement, only comes into effect if I hand the car back and walk away?

If I get another new car at the end of the agreement with Ford, the mileage or any excess charge, does not apply

Thanks

Your dealer may do it differently. But I would expect to calculate the equity left in your car as if it was apart exchange. So although you won't pay the excess charge directly, your payments for the next car will be higher.

Just dug out my paperwork since last thread on this subject.

If you return the car, you pay the excess mileage charge.

If you p/ex, they will give you a new finance quote and valuation. This will obviously take account of condition and mileage.

Or you could just make the final payment and sell or trade elsewhere.

Whatever you do, you'll pay for the mileage one way or the other as Tom says.
