That would have bought my first 3 cars**, and plenty of change!😀

** 1962 Mini 850 - £80

1966 Cortina - £200

1971 MG Midget - £600

I had on of those white batteries in an 2.8XR4x4, it lasted for years ! But then, no smart charging !

Surely this one will have discharged on the shelf over the last 30+ years?

I can understand paying silly money for pieces of trim that don't degrade...but not a battery. 🤔

I very much doubt if that is a real listing. Anybody daft enough to pay that much wouldn't have the money in the first place.

I try to keep track of the fate of my old cars but know for sure that the Mini and Cortina "died" at the hands of the friends I sold them to over 50 years ago.

The Midget still comes up on the Gov.UK search but was last taxed almost 20 years ago. Probably also a goner, but you never know...........

Apparently it had never been filled with acid and was still wrapped in plastic!

If you've spent 40-50k on a near perfect RS Turbo (for example) and you need/want an original battery it's a bargain! 😀

Ah that is interesting. I didn't know they sold them empty.

I agree on looking original. Was wondering whether they were intending to cut the casing open and fit a new battery inside...but not at that price lol!

Having chatted to owners displaying their cars at shows and being gobsmacked at how much some people have spent to achieve that original look, I'm not so sure!😀

This sort of thing is not uncommon either:

Battery for my car is expensive too.
