Exhaust gas temperature sensor behaviour

Featured Replies

Apologies to start a new thread, but I’d like to ask this as a distinct question for anyone who might have an idea:

I’ve got a Focus ST Diesel Mk3.5, failing regens.

My question is how do the temp sensors behave? I have EGT4, which I think is post-DPF reading -40C, but still getting voltage. I unplugged another one of the working sensors in the DPF, and it stayed at its default value of 100C.

Why would the EGT4 read -40C even whilst disconnected? Is it a different type of sensor?

Ford sent me a diagram and got me to say which one it was, as they don’t have descriptions apparently their other than “sensor”

I have already ordered the part , no refunds unfortunately since they ordered it in. £186. And there’s no aftermarket alternative.

Against my sensible instincts, I reset the DPF took it for a hard drive and attempted a static, which it almost immediately aborted.

Is this a reason for it to fail regens?
