Outside noise louder inside

Featured Replies

Hi I’m looking for advice I have a Ford kuga 2017 and when driving I can hear the outside noise as if the drivers side window is slightly open near the top right of the window I had the door aligned and the striker moved to tighten door up but the noise hasn’t dampened out at all any help would be appreciated or has anyone had this issue. It’s just the driver door the weather strips look good not dry. Just new here so any help would be appreciated

Remove the B-Post lower panel and put sponge or foam in the body aperture.

Remember not to restrict the seatbelt from retracting

Road noise comes through the sills up to the seat belt

Thanks for getting back to me sorry but I’m no good at this so you mean the inside piller were the seat belt goes cause the noise is worse around the top right of the window say were your ear would be when sitting

Yeah, the noise resonates up the B-Post

i had it at the body shop and they aligned up the door only way to explain it is when a car is coming towards me it is louder than should be from the start of the door and worse when it get the me at the end of the door sounds louder at the top right hope this makes it’s simpler as an example

The body shop can’t figure out why cause the seals look good and door is tight but the outside noise is way louder than it should be inside the car and it’s only the driver door

You could try driving the car with some duct tape temporarily along the top of the door where it meets the roof line so it seals the gap. You’d need someone to put it on once you’re in the car and sort it once you want to get out again. Would help you understand if that’s where the issue is or it’s coming from somewhere else.

Also check the drivers window is going fully up - try running it up and down a few times and leaving finger on switch when it goes up to see if it drives up a bit more than its current stopping point

Thanks for the advice I have done the window check I’ll try the tape and see does it work I think it could be the weatherstripping as the door is fully tightened to the frame have you came across this before
