Featured Replies

Hi Karl,

I have an idea thats about the time the Transit Connect became a rebadged VW Caddy, if so, its a VW 4 cylinder 4 cylinder engine with dry belt.

Hopefully someone might be able to confirm.

Yes, as above, they never put a Ford 1.5 EcoBoost in the Connect. So this has to be the VW version from 2022 onwards, it's a rebadged 1.5 TSI engine.

Uses a dry belt that is designed to last the life of the vehicle. Ford recommend that it should be checked after 15 years or 187,500 miles. (With the caveat that it should be replaced after 75k miles under 'severe' conditions).

Previous generation was from the time when they were fitting the 1.0 (wet belt) Ecoboost in everything they could, it seemed.

They still label the current (VW) 1.5 petrol as "Ecoboost" in Fordspeak for turbocharged petrol. A bit confusing, as they have applied the term to virtually anything from the 1.0 triple up to a 3.5 V6.
