Smax won't turn off

Featured Replies

I have started having problems with my ford s-max and it not turning off.

The first time it happened I had drove home from school pick up and arrived home, pressed the start/stop button like normal to turn car off and it wouldn't stop.

My partner tried and in the end he stalled the car but the electrics in the car stayed on.

I called a breakdown out and he had no idea and disconnected the live battery and drove off.

Since then IV had the battery reconnected and the same thing happens.

What could be causing it??

Start with the simple stuff. Check the operation of the start stop switch.

Did they try and reconnected to see if it still does it? or just disconnected and thats it?

May just need to flash the system and disconnecting battery may help.

The recovery that came out just disconnected the battery and left. He didn't have a clue.

I reconnected it and it drove ok .

But it has happened twice since so keep having to disconnect battery.

So it starts every push of the button to switch on but it sometimes doesn't switch off, is that correct?

Yes when I reconnect the battery it will start and run fine. But after a few times of being ok it won't turn off so I have to disconnect the battery.

Didn't know if if the ignition switch relay could be the issue? And if it's a simple plug in switch to change it.
