Focus 09 - Shocks / Spring / Top Mount, bearing replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all again,

My journey continues, this time I’ll be replacing my shocks (knackered), springs (both cracked), top strut mounts, bearing (jerky steering wheel when re-straightening itself), noticing horrible metal on metal grinding sound after going over bumps and moments of loose steering when hitting potholes etc.

Due to this I’ll be replacing both shocks, springs, top strut mounts/bearings.

Annoyingly, the top strut mount did not include any of the 3 bolts I need for fitting, as the old ones are extremely rusty and corroded. Having a mare finding the actual ones I need. — Listed as HB2 on diagrams / OEM - 1382652 (i think)

And the front strut hub pinch bolt — OEM - 1382597 (I think) - Comes without the nut, any ideas where this could be found or bought together or the OEM?

Also see these on the Ford shop, no idea where they’re for, OEM - 1345740, no idea if I will need them.

Any torque for these bolts too would be great, I think I’ve got 110Nm for the strut pinch bolt and I believe 35Nm for the 3 x top strut mount bolts.

I believe the pinch bolt is a stretcher and cannot be safely reused! Hence why I want everything here before I go tinkering about.

Any help would be most appreciated @TomsFocus

Hi,

Top strut mount bolts for your car should be 1345740. (1382652 are for RS models.)

You're right about the pinch bolt being 1382597. The hub is threaded on the standard models, so no nut needed. Only the RS uses a nut & bolt there.

I don't have access to reliable torque figures any more unfortunately.

Cheers @TomsFocus you’re a diamond. I’ll upload the torque specs here when I get hold of them
