Relays

Featured Replies

Hi

I am intending fitting DRL and a set of spot light to my Kuga

Do I need to fit both set of lights with relays?

Thanks

David

I would for sure, the spot lights would be easy enough to do with the relay being activated when full beam is on, you will have to find a suitable place to get the 12v to power the lamps making sure it is suitably fused.

The DLR's might be a bit of a challenge, do you intend using the dipped beam for this ?

I have seen some horrific mods over the years which people have asked me to sort out, as a rule if your going to do something keep it simple, neat and safe but most importantly easy to remove without causing damage to the existing wiring.

Hi D

Thanks for your reply

The spot lights are angel eye type so intend to connect the side light of the spots into the car side light loom via a fuse.

And the main spots into the car main beam via a fuse

the DRL into the ignition live via a fuse these already have a relay built into them

do you think that would be ok

Thanks

David

Yes David, that sounds good.

I was thinking you'd only want the DLR's on when the engine is running but it would certainly be easier to do it via the ignition.

Try to avoid using those cheap in-line fuse holders if you can and use self amalgamating tape to make your loom and to cover where it connects to existing wiring in the engine compartment.
