Passenger Footwell Leaking Badly

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have noticed a leak recently in my passenger side foot well, it seems to be coming in from behind the dash but i have no idea where its coming in.

I have left my car with a garage today and they have told me that they think its the heater / bulkhead leak?

Does that sound likely to be the problem, or has anyone had a similar problem on a 2004 Focus?

The garage reckon about £100 to re-seal it, does that sound reasonable / should i have it sorted sooner rather than later?

Thanks!

Dont pay its your pollen filter leaking it in

the engine bay at top of the bulk head.

It needs renewing search the forum you should find a how to

:) search the red hightlight in to search box at top of focus forum

I had that problem twice.......

For me, it was the aircon drain tube. It had either come adrift or perished.

I had an extended warranty on my old focus, so I cant say how much it cost, but you might like to take a look

in the engine compartment if you have aircon fitted and see if the exit to the drain tube still allows water through.

To be honest i wouldn't even know where to start looking for that, i will just mention the pollen filter to them when i pick my car up and see what they recon?

Thanks fella's!

The scuttle panel which covers the pollen filter will need to be changed as the adhesive will have perished. Buy the kit from ford, they are cheap enough for small parts.

It's on the passenger side under wiper.

Here is a clip lhd focus though.

Sounds like heater matrix

if it was a heater matrix with that much water you would little to no coolant left and likely the car would be overheating or the fan would be running all the time check it if its not low or going down its highly unlikely it would be the matrix you would also get a smell of curry or strong coolant in the cabin with the heaters on the focus is not known for faulty or leaking heater matrix pollen filter seal or aircon drain tube bulkhead leaks are prone to the drivers side not passengersits easy to tell if its the pollen filter as it will be soaking wet when you change it and replace the seal

its the pollen filter in my experience the waxy waterproof coating fails!
