MK2 Focus Speedo Clocks Removal

Hello everyone please can someone help i need to remove my speedo unit as it is broken, but i am having trouble i have unscrewed 2x screws at bottom but it will not budge am i doing something wrong. :unsure:

Hi, there are 4 screws holding the instrument panel in, 2 at the bottom and 1 either side ( after removing the instrument surround.

WARNING. the instrument panel must be kept upright to avoid silicone liquid leaking from the gauges.

Are you sure the speedo head is at fault, it may be a fault with the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission or the wiring connection to it.

Hi thanks for replying the needles are not functioning properly they work when they want to all lights work not quite sure whats up with it how do you get the instrument surround off because the surround is the whole of the top dash

Hi, I dont have a focus, my son does ( 99 t reg ) so Im not too sure about the dash etc if its the same model.

you could try the dashboard diagnostics ( pinned at the start of this forum ) to see if the gauges do a full sweep etc.

Also may be a faulty instrument panel ( see lots of earlier posts ) Ford will replace faulty panels for £99.

Also heard about wiring being too close to the high tenion coil leads causing intermitant speedo problems.
