I have installed my cone filter which is made by k and n

I have attached it to the existing intake hose.

I have removed the airbox completely and the cone is right behind the air intake on the bonnet.

The car now growls and you can feel it right through the car.

Even the exhaust sounds sportier.

for the k&n cone a picture is pretty pointless it just show yur engine without the airbox but rather a cone there... they dont make any really BHP difference unless installed properly with a heat guard and a proper air feed sorted out to it... sounds the !Removed! though :P and goes through petrol like it too when you rag it :|

on a side note, i have noticed when i put the standard filter back in after using the cone (for escorting family around) the car aint half quicker off the line, zips along everywhere! until the ECU figues out whats gone on :(

Surely de restricting the intake part of the engine adds 1-3hp

only if it is set up properly it can add power because your getting warm air from the engine messing with it otherwise

The main power sapper is the CAT, takes quite a few bhp away.

You'll be very lucky to gain any more power.

To start of you will need a heat shield to stop heat soak and a very good air feed.

What you have to rememer is that Ford spend hundreds of thousands developing these air boxes to work correctly with the rest of the system.

The air box is designed to resonate air in a certain way in certain situations. By installing a cone filter your changing the entire way the system works.

Your best bet is to keep the standard airbox, deseam it for better flow, install a K&N panel filter and also install a 2nd air supply.

You'll see far more gains than bolting on a cone.

first,you will probably LOSE some bhp,because the hot air from the engine ciruculates under the bonnet,so without a heat shield your engine will get lots of hot air,which leads to: higher fuel consumtion and loss of power in middle and high revs....

best bet is to lose the cone,and buy a k&n panel filter which fits straight into the original box.....

As stated above with the cone in the engine bay you may increase airflow but it will be hot air and hot air is less dense than cold air outside and this will decrease performance. This heatsoak will reduce power. As vinny stated above a heatshield is ideal for a cone otherwise its pointless. Though you can always get more power than a stock system, the stock system is made to be very quite and not made for performance really.

Have a look @ the J1 automotive kit if your looking for good gains. It is a cone with a heatshield so when the bonnet is closed it is a big cool airbox with a large intake. In testing I carried out on a dyno I had been on a few times before it gained 5bhp over standard paper filter and 3bhp over a K&N Panel. Depending on how much power/sound you want you may be better off getting a K&N Panel. Im not part of J1 or affiliated but I instead offered them to test thier kit on my car. I do think the kit is pretty good and well worth it the workmanship is good.

the main thing is if your happy or not, sticking something on your air intake aint gonna do much unless you spend a fair few bob on it... personally the power aint the issue, i under no illusions that a fiesta aint sumat thats gonna beat the world, but the noise makes me happy :)

It may well add 1 – 3 bhp but I doubt if you could tell the difference of an extra 2 bhp.

Car manufacturers have to make the air-filter apply to Eec noise regulations, most after market filters don’t have this problem and this lets you hear more of a ‘roar’(?) as the air is sucked down the inlet. Unfortunately they also suck more warm air in as well. As for making the exhaust sound sportier - an air filter will make no difference to an exhaust note.
