1.6Tdci 2010 Tapping Noise When Idle

Featured Replies

I've had this noise since getting the car about 2 months ago. When I first start the car the engine is really quiet but when I pull up at work their is a tapping noise from the engine. Not really really loud but I'm not sure if it's normal as it's been getting a bit louder.

Do any other owners notice this?

Same engine notice a nug/judder every say 30-40 seconds in the cycle when idle but no tapping mate.

FIXED

I'm pretty sure it was supermarket diesel. Had been using for about 3 - 4 tanks as had 5p off a litre. Swapped back to shell with millers added and after 200 miles the tapping has reduced to a distant noise.
