just got my son a fiesta 1999 1.25 zetec

its got 2 problems

when we stop at lights et and take foot off accellerator the car still revs over 2k for a while

how do i fix this plzz

next is sometimes we get a petrol smeel inside the cabin especially when the blower is running

it's more aparent when we accellerate.

any ideas on either or both topics please

hi delboy

with the idle it sounds like some1 could have been fiddling with idle air control valve, id say give that a look, should find it near the throttle butterfly, to adjust it u normaly just need a screwdriver

with the petrol smell in the cabin im nt sure, could b a very minor fuel leak somewhere but equally could just be the car is running a bit rich

u would need to have look at the fuel economy and see if its below what it should be

hope this helps point u in the right direction

a petrol smell inside the car suggests to me that you might have a leaking exhaust system
