Front Discs And Pads - St

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, i've finally decided to join up and stop lurking!

Right, just had the second MOT on my ST, 07 plate, and i'm in need of new front discs and therefore pads. Not desperate, but I'd like to sort it soon as I'm also getting 4 new tyres fitted in the next few weeks (£300 for Avon ZZ3, fitted).

I'm reluctant to take it in to Ford as they want about £250 for a new setup, considering the new tyres needed thats more than i'm willing to spend at the moment. But i dont just want to take it to a local garage and have any old junk fitted, brakes are quite important after all.

I've heard some people recommending EBC and some warning against, but some saying the pads are awful but the discs are good. Any help on this as i was looking at EBC standard discs for about £80 and standard pads from fordpartsuk for about £60.

Any advice on new discs and pads that wont cost the earth but will be at least as good or better than standard? Thanks
