Fiesta Rear Drum Stuck Quick Reply Needed

Featured Replies

My fiesta mk 3 failed the MOT on the handbrake guy said might be adjuster so in the process of taking off the drum, have removed the four bolts and slacken off the adjuster through the slot at the back, but the drum wont come off, its nearly there, but seems stuck and keeps springing back, dont want to force it as never done it before but seems stuck on a spring or something and might break something, its just one point where it seems stuck.

Any help appreciated

thanks

Hi

unfortunetly this is what happens with drum brakes, There's a lip worn on the drum which catches the shoes. Hitting it with a hammer sometimes helps but u might have to prise it off with a couple of levers. you should remove the lip with a dye grinder or simlar weapon before replacing it if it is still servicable. Don't worry about the springs they will return to position when the drums off. you'll probally need to replace the shoes and clean up the drum. p.s don't for get to check the handbrake cable, could be siezed.

good luck
