hi, new member 1st post.

we have a 2004 plate focus 1.8 tdci (lynx ?) just wondering have often the timing belt should be changed or are they chains now ?

    It has a timing belt and from memory it is due every 10yrs or 100 000miles, Whichever is the soonest

    i wouldnt wait 10 years or 100k miles every other site and forum actually recommend it be done sooner 70k for the diesels i believe as the tensioner goes not the belt so a replacement full kit is essential and only the belt is covered under fords 10yr 100k schedule however almost always the tensioner fails and takes the belt out with it if youve done plenty of miles ide pay the 250 quid to get a full kit done cheaper than a new engvine

    yeah i paid 250 inc vat fitted for the belt and tensioner new tensioner bolts and cam bolts and a new fan belt and from ford so the belt is gauranteed for another 10 years 100k

    hi, thanks for info guys its done 51,000 so far on a 04 will do it around 70,000. rather do it eary than let fail.
