Fiesta Mark 2 Stereo Replacement

Featured Replies

I was recently given an old 1988 fiesta mark 2 and I want to upgrade the stereo to something with at least FM radio and a tape deck. Unfortunately I have a few problems which I can't seem to find the answers to anywhere.

First, how do I remove the old MW radio? There are none of the holes for removal tools that people keep telling me to find. Only a single screw on the left side of the panel the radio is mounted in. I tried removing that and nothing happened. Do I have to take the whole dash off to get to the stereo?

Second, how should I fit a new stereo to a car this old? I have only done this to a much more modern VW Polo a couple of years ago so I don't really know what to do with a car from the 80's. Will a modern stereo be compatible or am I stuck listening to crackly MW?

I can upload photos if it helps.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
