adamwest
Hi there The wipers on our 2003 1.6 zetec focus (mk1.5 i believe?) have stopped working. I've checked the fuse which seems fine, no.55 yellow 20A (for some reason no 56 & 55 were the wrong way round but have corrected that to no avail.) When I move the stalk, I can hear the relay clicking which I quess means that the stalk isn't at fault. I have also swapped the relays around which I quess means that the relay is ok? The only other things I can think of is the motor or linkage or wiring. I can't see how the motor or linkage have become damaged so I guess it must be the wiring. Any body any idea's where the wiring is likely to fail or any other ideas as to why the wipers aren't working? Cheers in advance for any help Jim
jeebowhite
as you have deduced, it seems quite likely to be motor / electrics. as long as the click comes in from the glovebox when you set it off, it sounds right. Other than that, you do need to check the wiring. Best thing to do, gain access to the bottom of the windscreen where you can check if there are any obvious errors (disconnected wire etc) just to confirm is this all three wipers? front only or rear only? I have just finished stripping it all down and everything looked fine, I plugged the motor in on its own to test and for some reason it works! have checked all the linkage and re-installed it and its fine. The only thing I can think is if the plug had come lose a bit or a bit of damp in it (cleaned all plugs with contact cleaner) Anyway, thanks again for the help, hopefully it won't happen again Cheers Jim
