I have a Nokia N79 and when i try to call someone via the bluetooth in the car it says Directory empty but yet it displays who is calling when someone rings.

Is there a way to transfer the names over or is it a case my phone is too old?

Are you trying to use voice dialling? I believe you have to manually add the contact's name and number into the car's phone directory so that you can use the "dial name - marmaduke" feature.

The contacts are prob saved to your sim memory and they have to be on your phone memory for the car to load them up.(if that don't work its visa versa lol)

I have a fiesta MK7 and my radio said directory empty, and would not let me call via phonebook,

it seems the car system it has its own directory

I have to press the voice button

then say STORE NAME then she says NAME PLEASE then i say the name eg LEE

then she asks for the NUMBER so you tell it the number

then she says stored or something similar, then u can voice dial that name

since then I am able to use name dialling

I believe it has a maximum capacity of around 20 names/numbers.
