My Wish List...

Featured Replies

Well me and the car have been together for 6 days now and I've finally managed to do 2 long journeys to Devon and Wales (due to work) and last night, driving in the dark.

Coming from a 10 plate Fiesta Titanium to a 09 Zetec Sport, I have to admit I am missing the 'luxuries' of the titanium.

Namely -

No USB.

No footwell lighting

Climate Control

So, beings me and the car are going to be together an awful lot of my working hours, I've decided I need to do some upgrades. I've been investigating the retrofit USB but that is not looking positive so the next best solution is a new aftermarket headunit. I've been looking at a system from Car vision -

Not cheap at around £500 with installation... :o but I can't seem to find any other options. Any thoughts or known alternatives?

Next is the footwell lights. I wouldn't be able to tackle this myself, I just don't have the confidence or knowledge to tackle wiring so I am hoping my local Ford garage can do this? I'm not holding my breath as they don't seem willing to do anything to be honest. Again, if Ford say no - any ideas on a local expert in Birmingham who can do it?

Climate control - I guess I've just got to live without this!!

I'm afraid it looks as though that will remain on the wish list forever. I'm incapable of changing a bulb let alone this!!

I've just spoken to the local ford garage again about the new sony headunit which is now standard on the 2011 models and whether it could be fitted. I got all the usual excuses about it not being standard etc, the wiring wouldn't be compatible, I'd new need fascia housing, and basically would need a new car!! Eventually they said it could be done - but it would cost me in excess of a grand!!

I just find it so hard to believe such a new car is unable to have any improvements made without everything being a major hassle.

I also forgot to add to my wish list - automatic headlights!!

Ive got to ask. Why didnt you just buy the spoiler and body kit for the titanium rather than swap to the older Zetec S?

the footwell lighting is just plugging a bulb in mate :)

the holders should be there and wired up already ( mine were)

Only on certain years, not on early 2009s it wasn't

Car was on lease and had to go back through as it was through a work scheme. And it was only a 1.4 and I wanted a bigger engine due to the extra motorway driving I am now doing. Otherwise, yes I would have bought that instead.

I've spoken to my local ford garage afew times now about upgrading afew of the bits and bobs - they really give you the impression they just can't be arsed. I wouldn't mind, but its not like I am asking them to do it for free, I am willing to pay!!

true..we own rare cars now as the Titanium cant have a 1.6 diesel without being an econetic and that cant have the body kit ;)

lucky you havent got a name as recognisable as mine..my name is James Brown lol..always have people make comments lol

Aside from that nothing beats the Titanium with dress up kit in my opinion B)

yip.

although i do like the centura version, but couldnt be doing with the 1.25 petrol engine.

yeah if you could get a bigger engine then it would be alright

Ive got the 1.25 engine its got enough go about it. Its not loads less powerful than your 1.6 TDCi is I know theres a big torque difference though as with all petrol vs diesel situations.

I am comparing it to a 1.0 12v 107 though lol

I think other than the cr*p alloy wheels I paid extra for I love my 1.6tdci with her dress up kit

Here ya go buddy, retro fit for ambient lighting!

i have those on my dressed up tit, and i keep thinking "at least they dont dent easily". glass half full n all that

I test drove both a Titanium and Zetec S and didn't think there was all that much difference in the ride quality (or that the S was particularly bad - saying that coming from a BM with M-Sport suspension and 18's, sliding down stairs on your bum is more comfortable).

It is annoying how you cannot have certain options on the different models - not being able to have cruise on the S is annoying.
