It's removing a orange bulb/ orange filter from your indicator and replacing it with a bulb such as silvetec or phillips silvervision (a silver bulb that flashes amber)

Standard indicator bulbs on most cars are orange - and this creates the look of a fried egg in the indicator lens.

De-tango'ing is replacing these bulbs with bulbs which are silver when not lit - such as silver tech bulbs.

On my focus i had orange indicator covers which i swapped to clear ones, but put an orange bulb in. I now know i failed at de-tangoing it!!

So you changed to the fried egg style side repeater :P
