Nails, Loose Mirror, Sluggish ><

Featured Replies

I finally started putting miles on my car this week Barnstaple to Taunton. Slammed on my breaks at a fast changing light and skidded a little, went to check the tires and found a nail or metal wire in my left front tire. I don't seem to be loosing pressure but hopefully i can get it patched tomorrow. Has anyone also had a lose mirror cover? Mine seems to wiggle really bad and makes a horrible noise when driving. I've found the country carriageway's car struggles to huff up those hills in 4th. I sometimes end up down to 2nd while cars pass me. Little embarrassing when a mk6 fiesta passes you.

I went for at least a week with a nail in mine, when I had it repaired the guy told me it didn't hit the tube, just went into the tyre itself. Usually though even if it does pierce the inner tube, the nail itself plugs any air leak. It was a very cheap and quick repair for me when I took it to a tyre shop.

Loose mirrors, Mine seem fixed quite firmly, and I've never noticed any rattling etc from them.

Do you drive a petrol model by any chance? Even my 1.6 petrol struggles up some of the country carriageways near me. Not like it's about to stall or anything, but very hesitant to pick up speed.

tyre inner tubes have not been used for like 10 years. if the nail went throught the rubber then it will leak air. all they do is remove tyre and fit a patch onto the inside of the tyre and refit. takes 15 min to do. most of the time a nail into a tyre will also seal the whole, or you wil get a really slow puncture. just put a bit of saliva over nail and see if any bubbles form.

I've googled the cost on tire repair so am pleased that will be a quick fix. Already replaced the same tire before(Damaged wall). Driving the 1.4 petrol model and usually have to push it to about 5000rpm before i can change gear up hill otherwise it steadily slows down / struggles. I drove a 1.25 fiesta 3dr courtesy car up a hill and went up in 4th mine 3rd. Wish i had waited for the 1.6 model to have come in standard like today. I don't mind being the slow guy going up the hill but when a previous model fiesta passes you like the hill was nothing that's pushing it. lol

As for the mirror the plastic around the back on the windscreen is just really loose and makes the mirror move and of course the autowipers turn on after a small bump. If i could find the screw to tighten it i would but, i might have to have ford do it.
