Anyone Fancy Swapping Their 15" Alloys For My 16" Alloys (Mk7 Fiesta)?

Featured Replies

*Mods, please feel free to move if this is more suited to the buy/section*

I had the option from the dealership of swapping my alloys for those from a standard Zetec when I bought my car as I was concerned about the harsh ride from the 16" alloys, mainly due to poor roads in my area (living out in the countryside). I'm regretting not doing it now as it is really starting to annoy me (I have a bad back too, so that doesn't help), I just wondered if anyone who has a lower spec model e.g. Zetec might want to jazz their car up a bit and we could do a straight swap...just putting the feelers out.

The rims look like this: CLICK (not my auction, just linking for reference)

The wheels I have are the new style multi-spokes from the Titanium, they are not the ones with buckling issues, they are the new design. All rims are perfect, no kerb marks, all perfectly straight and have only done 2000 miles. All tyres are also perfect and have 7mm tread. I would be looking for rims in perfect condition too.

:)

to be honest the actual size of the alloy doesnt make that much diffrent in the ride quality (until you get silly like 19 inch upwards) , its the depth of the tyre, if you get no takers why dont you try and get some 50's fitted or even 55's fitted to your alloys, just in idea dont hate on me :)

Putting bigger tyres on will have the same effect on comfort as getting smaller wheels, adding more air into the overall circumference.

At least this gives you a couple of options.

Yeah I was considering that also, I found some Continental Premium Contacts in 185/50/R16 which would add 10mm to overall diameter and the narrower tread would reduce road noise slightly. I'm not sure how hard the Hankooks are compared with other tyres, maybe the compound also has an effect on ride and noise?

I'd also be interested to see/hear about people putting thicker tyres on the titanium 16inch rims.

I like the classy look to the 15 spokes but think Ford were wrong to fit thin tyres to the higher end model. My 1.4 petrol engine is so quiet all I hear is the annoying rumble of road noise on rough surfaces through these thin tyres. Plus I think comfort should have been thought about more when deciding what goes into the Titanium models. The Zetec S is the sporty version Ford, so why the noise and discomfort on the Titanium?

I find my Zetec S is alot noisier than the Mrs Titanium... both same engine

i wouldnt go any thinner than 195 purely down to a safty ussue, 195 is not really that wide any way (not even the 1.25 60 ps studio has 185's) :) if your looking for a quiter tyre go for a bridge stone http://www.bridgestone.co.uk/tyres/car-4x4-and-van/car/touring alos might want to read this http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/total_tyre_guide_2009/242032/noise.html

Also if you go any higher than 55 then the whole car can get very wallowy as you get lots of tyre transfer as you corner :)

im guessing it has 205/40/r17 on it, so u will have quite a bit more of vibration transfering into the cabin.

Did anyone else realise that the Titanium is fitted with extra load (XL) tyres? No wonder the rid is hard, why did Ford decide to do that? It's not as if the Fiesta is a heavy car
