Afternoon lads

ive got a 1999 v reg fiesta finasse and during the summer i had a problem, the heaters would not turn onto cold so i did abit of research and found that it was the heater valve atleast i thought, once fitted it was still belting hot air threw to the inside, so a friend of mine swapped the hoses so it bypassed the inside of the car happy days until now, i now want the heaters back on but it will be unbearable again so i want to be able to control it, does anyone know what i can do to rectify this, is there a switch inside behind the dash that can be changed, any ideas would be greatly appriciated thanks in advance
