Hopefully simple question ?

Can you tell me please, does the latest Sony radio fitted on a 2011 car have the facility to alert and read back to you text messages when received ?

    Why wouldn't it be safe? the Fiat 500 Bluetooth system does it

    The American fiesta does this due to having ford/microsft sync but ours doesn't :-(

    Theirs reads out your texts and u can reply with preset messages via voice control.

    (so your preset messages could be like: "i'll be there in 10 minutes", or "I'm driving you'll have to ring me" etc etc

    Would be handy.

    Seems like answer is no.

    Wife's Ka will read text out but not allow you to reply.

    As car is basically a Fiat, this would explain why.

    just have to hope the Sony sounds so much better as to justify the extra cash :-)

    On Android , i have an App call Vlingo , which reads out via bluetooth i can also answer a text message but using the mic on the phone, i can also direct it to call and email again via the phone mic , but when its sync'ed i will read out via the stereo. On call the App will allow me to use the Ford mic. Mine is not a Sony though its the Travel Pilot fx Sat. The Vlingo App is all voice controlled , i wll try it a little more to see if i can make it use the ford mic , but as long as the phone is on its mount it works perfect
