Fiesta St Diesel Issue - 2003

Featured Replies

Hey lads

Couple of issues with my fiances car

1st off - When driving there is a bad vibration(wobbling) through the steering wheel, only when turning right or when the wheel is slightly turned right.

There is no play in the drive shaft

Both wheels are balanced

Wheel nuts tight

No play in the wheel

When you come off the throttle it goes away

I am stumped for this lol i have no idea what it could be

Issue 2

Its going through power steering fluid like crazy

I checked the pipes off the bottle and they are fine the fluid seems to come out behind the engine and drip to the ground..

Any ideas?

Its a 2003 1.4 TDCI

Anyone?

so it is leaking fluid? that might be your starting point, find the source of the leak

Leak sorted lol just this !Removed! wobbling.....

Perhaps steering rack damage due to low fluid ?

I too would suggest it's the steering rack, even with the leak now fixed there could be some internal damamge causing these problems.

Couple of things you could do;

Start the engine while putting pressure on the steering wheel, when the engine starts the steering should operate smoothly and positive, also have a feel and find out if the steering is lighter/heavier in one direction.

The good news is PAS racks are fairly cheap, and you can change them yourself but you'll need it tracking afterwards.

Let us know how you get on,

Dan

Cheers for the response buddy.

Wobbling was here long before the powersteering leak.

Aye steering is fine and does as it should with NO issues.

The wobbling comes from the wheel area but obviously comes through the wheel in the end.

Egg in tyre ? Warped brake disk ?
