Car Not Sounding Healthy Help!

Featured Replies

the 'noise' has only just popped up, its almost a scrapping noise and it i defiantly coming from the right hand side of the car more specific the drivers side wheel. its only just come about the last 2 days, and it only seems to make a noise when its been at high speeds (todays instance coming off motor way) AND when over a quarter turn to the right. This leads me to think it could be something to do with the brakes heating up and expanding, and in turn rubbing something, or something inside is rubbing, from under neath the car seems sound and the tire is not catching a thing... gonna book it in ASAP its due a 2nd service too, but i dont think its something that will lead to it falling apart, just undesirable.

if you watch the vid you can just about hear a scraping noise at the start, then it stops doing it so tried to bring it back (hence the foot down ;) )

P.S. well done for reading all that!

staying along the lines of the brakes, have you checked there's not a big lip on the discs?

My initial thought was maybe a bit of wheel trim just loose and touching tyre, but you say there's nothing toughing the tyre..... have you had the wheel off and looked to see if it's something obviously out of place?

Danny

have u removed front wheels checked your inner brake pads they may be worn and u can hear the wear indicator scraping the disc's

Cheers for the help, unfortunately the weather wont been brilliant and nor has my hours in work so not had a chance to get wheel off and get a proper, safe look... Brake wear was a thought but want too sure being honest, it seemed a lil early 26k in clock for them too go.. I shall look weather permitting tomorrow!!!

Isn't 26k about average for brake pad life span? Have they been changed at all, or still rolling on the originals?

I've noticed mine are starting to feel spongy and I'm only at 17,000 miles.

Maybe take it into Ford and ask them to take a look, I'm sure their eyes will light up when you tell them you think you need your brakes replacing!

Damn the pads on my KIA c'eed lasted over 50k and that was with quite a bit of "spirited" driving lol

front brake pads are changed as part of the 3rd service which from memory is around 35k miles? and fair play i do use them alot, but not enough to warrant them packing up already :|

Pads are not changed as part of a service, they will be charged for as and when necessary. My last set of pads on a MK6.5 Fiesta lasted 65k.

3rd service is 37500 miles, mine is fast approaching
