Hi thinking about changing car and don't want anything smaller than the mk5 I have already. I cannot seem to find the figures for the older model anywhere and its hard to judge by just looking to compare them. Any help would be great. Thanks.

MK7 is miles bigger inside, i can't physically fit my legs in the MK5 but the MK7 is almost focus sized.

More space and bigger boot in the Mk7 (wheelbase usually correlates to legroom)

I recently replaced a Mk4 Fiesta (same size inside as a Mk5 I think) with a Mk7.

The Mk7 is considerably more spacious. The most noticeable thing is the increase in internal width. I think there's also more legroom in the back. The boot is definitely bigger. Lastly, the windscreen is further forward, so the Mk7 has much more room for carrying long items back from Ikea (for example).

The extra size does make it slightly more difficult to park and fit inside domestic garages, and presumably doesn't help fuel consumption. If the room inside your Mk5 is sufficent, you might even want to consider cars slightly smaller than the Mk7 Fiesta.
