Cant Select First Gear

Featured Replies

Was driving home today when all of a sudden i couldn't get into first gear. i managed to get it in with a bit of force and got home. When i go home i realized that first gear was fine when the engine was off but as soon as i start the engine up again, the same problem appears. Im driving a Fiesta 1.25 z tech and wondered if anyone could help me with the problem i have only had the car a few days :(

we'll assume the car was stationary, so did you take you foot off the clutch, gear into neutral then try again? Sounds silly I know but it will often solve something like this.

First gear isn't synchromeshed. I've found I need to be traveliing very slowly, perhaps 5-8mph to be able to shift down into first from 2nd.
