Service Advice

Guys

need some advice, i have a Dec 2008/58 1.6 Zetec S first service done in Jan 2010 @4453 Miles Cost £184, Second service Jan 2011 9457 Miles £324 the car is due its first MOT on the 20th so i have booked it in with my local ford dealer and also got a price to get service done as well as it saves me taking it back in Jan Price quoted £350 plus any extra parts?.

My question is as the car is three years old, no warranty left should I take it somewhere cheaper as it has only done 12,000 Miles and Can i be sure it will get a full service like ford tell me it will need due to age? and what extra bits do they do on a full service? lady on the booking line not very fourth coming kept saying Fuel filter at that age with petrol.

thanks for your help guys

Are there any other dealer's in your area? Round here a minor service is £125 and major [every 3rd service] is £225

They're also doing an MOT for £24.85 so for £250 it'd be 3rd service & MOT - http://www.allenford.com/

BTW I don't work for them, just trying to give you an idea of prices and advising you to haggle ;)

Hi

If you look on Ford web site and your car is over 3 years old they say service from £99 this includes 1year road side asst (brakedown couver)this is not a full service but at 12000 miles you still get ford stamp.

Seems steep to me. For a Fiesta 1.6 petrol my local main Ford dealer is quoting:

1st service = £149

2nd service = £169

3rd service = £189

Or, if your car is more than 3 years old:

Service only £99

Service and MOT only £129

Cheers

It is indeed! Gates of Hertford, but I would assume that all Gates sites charge the same.

thanks for your comments guys, local ford dealer quoted £54.75 for the mot took it to a local mot station charged me £25, the guy there told me that the dealership which is less than a mile away send most of there vehicles there. Still undecided what to do about this third service anybody any idea what gets done on a three year service? bearing in mind my car has covered just short of 13,000 miles.

Thanks.

You can generate a Ford service schedule here which shows exactly what the dealer should do. Mileage should make no difference (unless really high) as age is the factor here.

Thanks for this, I have looked on the system and it states that the vehicle is due an interem service not a major as this dealer is telling me, the last service was a major with brake fluid change and what not.think i need to call another dealer for their view.

Sorry guys, one other question, i have one touch up/down on drivers side should this not work on passenger side never took much notice till this week with warranty coming to an end

Your dealer is right, every 3rd year (or 36k) is a major service. Your last one should have been an interim but with the additional brake fluid change as that is due every 2 years.
