Mk7 Queries

Featured Replies

Hi,

First off I've been very impressed with my 10 plate 1.6tdci titanium fiesta, but like most have a few queries.

The queries

1. Does anyone else get problems with sound coming out of only one speaker after making a call via bluetooth or a voice command with the sony radio? I've was informed by ford that the the radio firmware needed updating, but i'm not so sure because i took the car in to get the update on the radio which appeared to do the trick but unfortunately it hasn't.

Since this firmware change other issues have arised, such as;

iPod control has changed and can no longer select to shuffle all albums/songs/artists

This could be just due to the weather but my tank range has dropped considerably from about 450miles to about 350miles and an average of 54mpg to now 48mpg. I think this one could be due to weather as cold weather affects the efficency of an engine but just wasn't expecting this.

Has anyone had any of the issues/queries i've mentioned or ways to possibly solve them ?

i have the sony and dont have any issues like those

and yes your car will get worse MPG in the winter as, to attain the same fuel/air ratio, the ECU has to inject more fuel (since the air is colder and hence denser). it will also use more fuel because it takes longer to reach operating temperature, although once operating temperature has been reached this issue no longer applies

winter's expensive - higher electricity and gas bills, higher fuel bills :(

I also have the Sony and have not noticed any problems like you describe after using Bluetooth. I don't use the iPod connection but do have a memory stick in my USB socket and it allows my to shuffle all folders. My Fiesta is a 2007(60) reg so is a bit newer that yours so I don't know if that means we have the same formware or not? I would get the dealer to have a nother look if I was you!

Winter will affect your fuel ecomony for exactly the reasons that orcomma describes and also because you tend to have your lights, heater, heated rear window, etc on which burns more fuel too. That said, over the last couple of weeks in this colder weather my average is a steady 53mpg (450 per tank) - my driving is commuting 5 days a week (6 miles each way mostly in town) and maybe a couple of short motorway runs (maybe 20 or so miles) at the weekend.

Cheers

Rog

Have you tried updating the firmware yourself by downloading the files from here? (This is for both Fiesta stereos [standard/Sony] even though the pic & video don't show it)

I'm getting around 60mpg but that varies with driving style, temp, type of roads, mileage of car etc...
