Window Tinting?

Featured Replies

Having never had this done before, I'm looking at getting it done to my new Focus estate, well only the half the windows at the rear, rather spend Ford prices on it as a optional extra.

So how do they do it, other than stick a tinted film on the inside of the glass of course?

I'm referring really to the windows that open, do they remove the glass so that it goes under the seals on the lower edge of the door frame?

And is there any problems with it maybe lifting up or peeling off when the window closes in between the seals at the top of the door frame?

Probably a dumb !Removed! question I know, but I have to ask!

Lol I believe there are two ways that they do window tints. The first and most common is a window tint film that is applied across the window. 9/10 times they will leave the car as it is, and just apply the sticker carefully, maybe removing the odd panel to gain clear access to the window at the bottom.

Other than that, I believe you can buy tinted glass, or get the window applied with a sort of spray paint, but not heard of that one too often!

I have known of some places that do remove the window, so they can work on it on a flat surface.

however most just stick the film on, with everything in place, and tuck excess down gaps.
