My introductory post. I have just put my late father's red Ford Escort Flight (1.6 petrol 5 door hatchback) on the road after just over a year of SORN following his death.

I will be keeping the car for a while for sentimental reasons and also because it has had one careful owner since it was new in 1999 and has covered less than 17,000 miles to date. It has always been kept in a garage and when spruced up it is barely distinguishable from new.

I have a couple of questions but I will start by searching the threads on the forum for answers.

My other car is a Citroen C5 (please don't hold it against me) so the Escort should generally be much simpler to work on!
