Iphone/ipod And Bluetooth Options?

Featured Replies

Hello there!

I am new here as you can probably tell

I recently purchased a 10 plate Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCI in Ocean Blue with the standard head unit.

Its gorgeous, I love driving it but the one thing I am missing most from my old car is Bluetooth for receiving and making calls the ability to Listen to the music on my iPhone via USB and have the ability to control the music from my non standard head unit.

The model head unit I have seems to be the most basic one, with CD/RADIO/AUX.

In Hindsight, I should really have thought about this before I bought the car I guess as there are some that already have this functionality I know.

Obviously I can use the Aux jack to listen to it but I can't use my steering wheel controls to change tracks etc.

So I am wondering what your opinions are, and what products are there which can bring the same functionality back for me?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ritchie

You can retro fit bluetooth/usb but its not cheap although you could get most bits from scrappys.

I and several others on here have done this but you will need to get it activated using ids. INath and Lez both have the hardware to do this.

There is a long thread on here listing whats needed.

Basically you need to change the control panel/screen add the bluetooth/usb module with wiring looms/mic and change the indicator stalk if voice control required.

The result works a treat and gives the factory fitted look

Thanks for the fast reply!

That sounds like a lot of work to be honest and I don't really have the time, any other ideas?

I have seen These

Has anyone had any experience with them, and if so what are your thoughts? are they easy enough to install?

You realise there's still work involved in installing that system and it costs more than the solution gingertom gave? :P

Hi Ritchie

Once you had all the bits you can install everything in a couple of hours. It took iNath about 10 mins to activate so theres actually probably less work in installing it than buying the bits to start with and you get the benefit of the factory fitted appearence.

Oh ok... Where can I get the parts etc from?

eBay / breakers yard.

Hi Ritchie

Somewhere on here is a list of the parts required. You will probably get most from ebay/scrap yard although if you need the loom with the bluetooth connection i dont know if a car with it factory fitted would be easy to remove. I bought one new from a ford dealer. If i can find the invoice with the part numbers on i wil post them

Regards

Dave

If you're doing Bluetooth only I have module & wiring loom.

If you want USB I have part numbers & prices.

Thanks for all the replies, I finally decided on a much cheaper and simpler option

Bought one of these.

Plug the phone into it, automatically connects via bluetooth for calls

Charges phone through a USB cable to a Belkin Cig Lighter USB

Audio goes through AUX out into the cars AUX In.

Ok I can't change tracks via the steering controls but I can adjust the volume and I have it mounted on the blank plate under stereo controls so its pretty easy to navigate the phone.
