Misting Up! Mk7

Featured Replies

Does anybody else have a problem with fogging up of the windows in the entire car, the only way to stop it is to drive round constantly with the air con on its really annoying! and the back windows are always fogged up but wont clear!, its really annoying as u have to have the blowers on constantly everytime you go out in the car, ive had the pollen filter changed as well but it just keeps doing it! i have a 1.4 titanuim

My car does this too, no matter how long i leave the fan on whilst sitting it doesnt dven begin to clear i have to wipe the windscreen myself & eventually after driving for a while it begins to clear :/

Yeah thats what i mean :) the blowers should clear the screen but it doesnt, u have to put the aircon on as well for it even to attempt to clear but as soon as you turn the aircon off again it foggs up in seconds! but what else can we do? ive tried using anti fog glass cleaner but it still doesnt work

Ive just reverted to wiping it with a cloth before i drive off but was thinking perhaps there was a fault with the heating system..

Yeah mine is going back to the garage again on 23rd for a few days for them to have a good proper look at it, only had the car since december, no happy with them at all, so i told them to fix it or im returning the car so :s

In my car I have the air directed to feet only and the air con off and it has never misted up. The only time I direct the air at the windows it to clear ice.

Sounds like something is amiss.

Sounds like either a problem with your blowers (like blocked/jammed vents) or you have damp in the car somewhere - have you checked the carpets and the boot for water?

Ive not ill do that tomorrow!

I had the same problem but the solution so far has been to thoroughly clean the glass with good glass cleaner and open all the doors for as long as possible on a dry day and let the inside of the car air out. Doing this every couple of months has kept it clear. Also if you have the Climate Control, it sometimes helps to over-ride the Auto setting and turn the fan up slightly to get more air through the car and stop the windows steaming up.

Thanks guys, its been in the garage where i bought it, from a proper ford dealership and they have checked for damp and the blowers but its puzzling them as well, ill try keeping the air in the footwell just to see what happens, and on a dry day i will open the doors and get some proper glass cleaner product onto them, its strange ive never had this problem with my previous cars lol, but will try many different things, just to see.

I imagine that it will be worse when you do this. I only said that I direct theair in this way to show that, if everything is working fine, you don't even need to direct air directly onto the glass to keep it clear.

certainly sounds a bit odd can I suggest you get Ford to change the pollen filter, and make sure you don't have the blower set to 'recirculate'

I have the same misting problem, was terrible today >_> though I'm kinda used to it after having a '99 Matiz and an '08 Matiz before the Fiesta :P

Unless the pollen filter has got damp this will make no difference. If the pollen filter is dam then the pollen filter box or seal need sorting.

...if the pollen filter is damp than the windows can steam up due to the moister being transferred from the filter to the car interior - with any make of car if no other solution is found it IS worth checking the pollen filter as they can/will cause moister related problems. Whilst this is unusual on newer/ vehicles it is not unknown.
