Ford Focus 1.8 V Reg Estate No Fuel Issue

hi guys im an owner of a mondeo but the car im refering to is my cousins, its a ford focus 1.8 16v petrol estate on a v reg, the problem we have is no fuel, please can someone guide me on what to check out so far i have replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuses are ok, the engine has also just had its cam sensor replaced and new coil pack.

could the pump on the tank be goosed.

the fuel cut off switch is also ok and button is pressed down.

some days car runs and drives ok then others it cuts out and then wont start. any help please thanks

i had same thing on a escort it was the wires at the pump were just hanging on so would start some times and then not at all
