Climate Control

Featured Replies

just got a 2009 fiesta titanium and when i push the auto button it seems to turn the AC on as well why is this or am i doing some thing wrong here? never really used anything like this before.

This is correct. In order to automatically (auto) control the temperature it will turn on the ac as it might need this to keep things cool. It will probably not actually use the compressor if the air from the outside is sufficiently cool anyway.

You can do what I do which is press auto then turn off the ac. That way it will automatically control the fan settings but not use the ac at all. Note that it is a good idea to run the ac from time to time to ensure the pipes and hoses don't dry out.

Thanks very much for the reply i only picked it up the weekend. The dealer did ask if i would like to be shown how it all works but me being a man said no its ok im sure ill work it all out.

many thanks

Just like Colin said, the AC light comes on in full auto mode because the climate control will decide when to turn the AC on and off. If you press Auto and then turn the AC button to off, the AC will be off all the time. This time of year, full auto is probably fine as the car won't switch the AC on much anyway.

Reminds me of the day I picked up my car - the dealer pointed out a few things to me, the gearstick and handbrake being the first!
