2001 Fiesta Stereo Power Issue

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Hoping you can help me with this. I have a 2001 Fiesta which I am trying to fit a new stereo to. The old stereo (a JVC around 8 years old) worked fine (apart from forgetting the settings but this I think is just two wires to be swapped) but the new stereo will not power on. I know there is power to it as when you turn the ignition on, it lights up/goes off again and you can load/eject a CD, but it just will not actually turn on. I've also ruled out it being the stereo as I've tried the stereo from our other car which has identical power/audio connectors and it doesn't work either.

As far as power connectors go, there is the standard Ford connectors in the car, connected to the correct wiring harness to create what I believe is an ISO connector? From there, the two newer (problem) stereos have an additional harness that turns this ISO(?) connector into a smaller block connector, and also have the ability to swap the red/yellow wires. If I swap these wires, the stereos do nothing at all. I've also tried a new ISO harness from Halfords (they were kind enough to let me try it without purchasing first!) and this didn't change anything.

So... does anyone have any ideas regarding this? For reference, the new Stereo is a JVC KD-R711.

Cheers,

RobC.
