Ios5 And Usb

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS5 and am having a few issues when its connected to the car. I have the latest software update for the car as mentioned in other posts in this forum. My car has both bluetooth and the usb port. Bluetooth works perfectly. Both of the issues relate to the usb connection and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same?

First issue. When I'm playing music from my phone via usb (iPod on the car radio) the audio suffers from intermittent pops and crackles etc. It is not the audio files as they don't have the same pops/crackles while playing over bluetooth or on my computer.

The second issue is when i try and shuffle an album and it plays several tracks, then jumps to songs not on that album and the play count resets to 1/20. It is often necessary to browse into the album and select the first track otherwise the album will not play at all.

Has anyone else encountered either of these issues, and if so, anyone got any possible solutions please?

Maybe you can plug another device in the USB or a USB stick and see if problem still exists?

Maybe the USB port is damaged? Making a weak connection?

Kind of related, I had to buy a replacement aux jack point as mine was broken internally. I was getting distorted volume. Could be that your USB has a broken connector. The aux jack point was £6 from dealer, so replacing the USB one shouldn't be much different - all plug and play.

Of course you could always take it back to the dealer under warranty? But depends on age as I believe your only covered for certain interior bits for 1 year.

The USB one is around £60 as you have to buy the entire wiring loom (the connector in the end of a cable that runs to the module)

Thanks for the replies.

Im going to do some more testing on it. I didn't have the crackling sound issue before the Ford update which was done by my dealer in October i think. Unfortunately the car is now 3 years old so isn't under warranty. However, it is possible that the usb port is damaged in some way as up until the Ford update, audio was transmitted via AUX and track name via the usb. Ive never played music from a usb stick.

I'll try another iPhone, different cable (I have the Ford Y cable) and also a usb stick and report back.

Thanks again,

Prolix
