Hi chaps and chapesses

i recently had problem where my car 07 1.8 tdci wouldnt start some the nice mr rac man appeared tapped my egr valve with hammer and got it going again just wondered if their was any advice like new how much am i looking at he did mention getting it cleaned out but not sure if you can

any advice welcome

    they can be removed and cleaned ,it a messy job but worth it and will only cost some cleaner and spanner time.
