My fiesta died last week going round a corner and is now very ill when running, having tried the usual tests I'm able to do on my drive, i have taken it to SMCs. proved fault with cylinders 1 and 4 not firing caused by fault with PCM. have been quoted £862 if unit needs replacing, am i being mugged off?... hoping its just a short.

I have a decent idea on the mota having done a few bits myself but when it comes to ecus my knowledge begins to dry up.. would it be cheaper to get a recon and fit it myself or even source a new unit elsewhere?
