My ECU blew while I was reconnecting the battery, I am trying to find one at a breaker's yard, I have tracked down one with a similar number but need to know if it is compatible.

Original ECU 5WS40303J-T 4M51-12A650-JK

Breaker has :- 5WS40607B-T 7M51-12A650-APB

Obviously some of the number may just be a date code or serial, the breaker's car is a 2007 saloon 1.8 diesel, mine is a 2005 estate 1.8 diesel. Hope someone can help.... Cheers. Dave

PS... new to this so if I've broken any forum rules I apologise profusely.

Hi i,d say your best asking a ford dealer just be cheeky the last 2 letters i think refers to the loom fitted possibly one with extras fitted as i,ve seen the likes of the jk on my loom in the engine bay the 4m51 7m51 is possibly a manufacture date first number possibly chassis fitted to saloon /hatch/estate and the 12A650 is the copatibility part that you require i,ve seen similar on range rover parts did a quick search on google pretty useless really .manufactures update and change parts at certain years hence part numbers differing .hope this is of some help

Ok, many thanks, may take a chance and buy it if he'll take a sensible price, should be similar. I tried google without much success.

Thanks Again.
