Double Din Radios

Featured Replies

As we all know, ford have made a few 6000CD stereos. My question is can my focus (2005 plate, mk2) take a stereo from a mondeo with the same sort of design? Ford were kind enough to only give me a CDDJ stereo and i want an aux one. So basically will http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160748239144?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 fit in my car? Thank you :-)

In one word - No.

In many words - The mondeo radio is narrower in the main casing and deeper so will not physically go all the way into a Focus din slot.

The front fascia is also slightly curved and wider at the top than the bottom to fit the angled fascia in a Mondeo dash.

Ones that will fit -

Or this one with an upgrade kit from Ford which gives you brackets that the radio screws onto, (the upgraded ones in the MK2.5 screw into the din slot and the fascia clips over the screws and radio rather than the fascia going on first and the radio hooking in to it as per a standard MK2 install.

This one will not fit a Focus (only a Mondeo) because of the shape of the fascia and radio dimensions.

Also i include this one of a Mondeo din adaptor purely so you can see more clearly the angled front shape of a Mondeo radio.

Just to add to all this, just because someone on eBay says it will fit a focus it may well not.

The key to it all is to be sure of the shape of the fascia as above and the lengh of the mounting stub on the back of the radio.

On a Mondeo one it will be shorter as like i mentioned above, the radio is deeper.

Also be sure to get the code for the radio as else you will need to either pay for a code to be generated (M codes can be done with a code programme available from the apps store on a iPhone / iPod, V codes are either paid for through eBay or direct from your local Ford dealers on proof of ownership - No V code generators that are available to buy will work).
