Tdci Ticking From Engine

hi all, have just been to view a 55 plate fiesta tdci. car looks ok but when it was on tickover i noticed what sounded like a ticking noice coming from top of engine. my gut feeling was that it sounds like a poorly set valve clearance on one cylinder as it was too slow to be on all four cylinders. when the engine was revved it seamed to go away.

does anybody know if this sounds right?

is this a problem or just the ay tdci engines are?

is it a home service repair or garage job (how much)?

apart from that it was a good deal and am very tempted to buy it.

    hi welcome to the forum,

    best advise i can give you mate, is to look at videos of the fiesta tdci on youtube and have a listen to see if they sound the same as what you were looking at purchasing,

    i have a 1.6TDCi and cant say ive noticed any ticking other than the usual diesel tone.

    do you guys agree with this diagnosis. is it much of a job to change them, how much the seller has always had this noise for 30k miles. does it damage engine?
