as96
Have a whirring noise when turning the steering wheel this is both stationery and moving, thought it could be the pump noise comes from under the bonnet? Is the car safe to drive? I've also noticed the fluid level is below the min mark, would this make any difference? Andy
Stoney871
The sound is probably the steering servo pump straining to pressurise with reduced fluid. I'd bang more in as a matter of urgency. May also be a good idea to find someone to check for airlocks. Edited March 10, 2012 by Stoney871
sambooka
I think he means power steering fluid but the same applies top it up as soon as possible and if it doesn't disappear have it bled through to remove any air

Crossed purposes there. I meant the steering fluid reservoir. Been a long day. Edited post - Better? :)

orcomma
How do I get the air out the system? Is this a job I can do? someone told me that you could do this by opening the lid of the reservoir and turn from lock to lock to expel the air but im not sure if he was kidding :S
